CALIFORNIA RANCH COOKOUTS ARE BACK!
California Ranch Cookouts are back! The Alisal is excited to welcome a series of seasoned chefs like Chef Cat Cora, Ray Garcia and Sam Jones, just to name a few! Director of Culinary Operations, Anthony Endy, will cook up a feast with each Guest Chef creating a memorable outdoor dining experience that will leave you full, yet hungry for more!
These dinners take place on the Rodeo Arena and the Oval Lawn, two spacious and unique al fresco dining spaces at the Ranch amidst the beautiful rolling hills and provide stunning wide-open backdrops for these cookout experiences.
The focus will be on barbecued favorites, including savory meats, seafood, delicious roasted veggie dishes, and grilled decadent desserts.
If you already will be staying at The Alisal when these events occur, there will be no extra charge for your attendance. If you don’t yet have an accommodation reserved, this is a great excuse for a getaway. The Cookouts are only open to guests and Signature Members. If you are an Alisal Signature Member, space at the Cookouts can be reserved without an overnight stay at a cost of $95 per person.

Guest Chef Ray Garcia
As a native Angeleno, award-winning chef Ray Garcia draws his culinary inspiration from the city’s rich culture, Southern California’s produce, and his classic training. As the chef/owner of Broken Spanish and BS Taqueria (both opened in 2015 and now operating in pop-up formats), he incorporates all of these things cooking bright, bold, and ingredient-driven food that expresses a Mexican-American narrative. For this, he, his team and both restaurants have received national recognition and overwhelming hometown support – in a city that has drawn critical focus and praise on an international level. Most notably, he was recognized by Esquire magazine as Chef of the Year. His restaurants have earned countless accolades and recognition by outlets such as Esquire, USA Today, Robb Report, Food & Wine, Los Angeles Times, and Los Angeles Magazine. Chef Ray brings a breadth of Mexican-inspired culinary artistry, seasonal reverence, and imagination to ¡VIVA!, his forthcoming restaurant concept at Resorts World Las Vegas opening soon.

Guest Chef Cat Cora
Cat Cora is a celebrated celebrity chef, author, restaurateur, television host, philanthropist, and proud mother of six. The Jackson, Mississippi native, who trained at the Culinary Institute of America and went on to cook at two 3-star Michelin restaurants in France, was crowned the first female Iron Chef, and was also the first female inducted into the Culinary Hall of Fame. Outside of the kitchen, Cat is the President/Founder of Chefs for Humanity, a non-profit dedicated to reducing hunger worldwide, as well as Founder of Little Kitchen Academy, a Montessori-style culinary school for ages 3-teen. For her volunteer work in the community, Cat received the Lifetime Achievement Award and the Volunteer Service Award from President Barack Obama.

Guest Chef Sam Jones
Third generation pitmaster Sam Jones began his career in the barbecue business at an early age, helping his grandfather and uncle at the famous Skylight Inn in his hometown of Ayden, NC which he now oversees. In 2003, the Skylight Inn received the James Beard Award for America’s Classics, earning the distinction of being the first barbecue joint to ever receive an award from the esteemed culinary organization. In 2015, Sam partnered with longtime friend and former Skylight employee Michael Letchworth to open Sam Jones BBQ, which now has locations in Winterville and Raleigh. In his debut cookbook Whole Hog BBQ: The Gospel of Carolina Barbecue with Recipes from Skylight Inn and Sam Jones BBQ (Ten Speed Press), he teamed up with barbecue expert Daniel Vaughn to share his best stories, recipes, and family secrets from both Skylight Inn and Sam Jones BBQ.

Guest Chef Tiffani Thiessen
Known for her roles on Saved By the Bell and Alex & Katie, Tiffani has always had a passion for cooking and knew that she eventually wanted to take her kitchen skills to the next level. For three seasons, Tiffani hosted “Dinner at Tiffani’s” on the Cooking Channel, which invited fellow celebrities in to her kitchen to her whip up a decadent dish. With guest appearances from her friends, family and past cast members, Tiffani shared her tips on how to host intimate get-togethers with no stress. Fresh off the Emmy-nominated Netflix original, Alexa & Katie, Tiffani has also added author to her skillset with her 2018 cookbook, Pull Up a Chair.
