One of The Alisal’s greatest gifts are the people whose footsteps grace the property… from all the guests to the team members here to help make their experience a memorable one. Our beloved Chef Anthony Endy shares the magic of the property from the innate Ranch moments to the passion of sharing in culinary celebrations. Our mouths are watering to enjoy one of his meals and look forward to toasting our guests in the future!
“The truth is the ranch has been around a long time before I’ve been around. Being raised in this valley it didn’t take long for it to be a large part of who I am. The rolling hills and winding trails hold onto the words, laughs, and moments created by those who have blazed them. After days of rain, the sun is out with a light breeze and the sound of a rippling creek in the distance. The ranch evokes a fresh spring season with cherry blossoms, and hungry herds of cattle and horses feasting on green pastures. It’s quiet.
It’s always my focus in bringing the best dining experience of what the ranch breathes. Food is memories and has always been my goal to provide memorable meals, and it may just be flavors of meals past that guests are looking for. But through these times, thoughts stir my mind into what truly makes a memorable dining experience. Yes, the food and drink must be thoughtful and delicious. Yes, The Alisal is truly a beautiful and unique setting no other restaurant or resort can rival – from the Adobe cowboy breakfast, the numerous BBQs throughout the property, or the timeless dining rooms with large windows overlooking lush green lawns and monstrous oak trees. But, the reality of what truly makes a memorable dining experience is the people.
People are our lovely guests and company as well as generous hospitality. The reason I became a chef and pursued hospitality was from the gratifying feeling of making people happy. My passion, as many here, is to serve and ensure our guests are fulfilled. I miss our guests. I miss my team, the camaraderie of a brigade executing a meal is like no other. I miss the smell of the clean smoke coming off the oak fire that is slowly roasting and rendering down the fat cap of a freshly cut tomahawk steak. The beauty of food lies in the sharing with one another, that is where memories are made.
As it’s always been said, “there is a magic at The Alisal” – it’s true, but what is magic if it can’t be shared. I’m longing to share the magic and missing you all. Stay safe and we’ll see you all soon!”
