For those of you who have been to The Alisal, there is nothing better than the Old Adobe Breakfast Ride. Venturing out just after sunrise, moving throughout the beauty of the Ranch and working up a big appetite! There is one thing that is certain; guests have always been greeted with a warm smile and delicious pancakes from Abe Aguilar, our resident pancake perfectionist! His joy and enthusiasm is infectious, and the pancakes are scrumptious. We can almost taste them now! Looking forward to seeing you all on the next Breakfast Ride!
“Where do I start? There’s so many memories, so many adventures, so many unforgettable faces, and thousands and thousands of golden brown pancakes made. What makes The Alisal a special place? People often say, the staff, but in my opinion it’s all the new faces we get to see, and especially the ones we see year after year. There is such a special connection with everyone here that we not only become friends, but family with you as well.
I’ve been here for more than a handful of years and have had many great memories. Allow me to share one of many: one of my favorite places to work is the Old Adobe Breakfast Ride. Waking up before the sunrise, working with my longtime colleagues, and flipping pancakes to all those hungry riders is a unique thing to do. But when it comes to the pancake challenge (the giant pancake, or “the wagon wheel”), it is a whole different story! Our guests often underestimate how ENORMOUS this delicious monster really is. This GIANT ALISAL PANCAKE is the equivalent to about 30 regular-sized pancakes and never in the history of The Alisal have anyone finished one – although we have had some brave and hungry guests who are up for the challenge! Only time will tell, but it’s a historic place which means history is still in the making. Remember, there’s always a pancake waiting for you at the Old Adobe, sized for any appetite. Miss you all and hope to see you soon.” – Abe Aguilar, The Alisal Culinary Team
